Who's Who at OM Ireland: Bitna Kim PDF Print

BitnaIn 2010, after studying English Literature in South Korea for two years, Bitna wanted to join OM’s Logos Hope. But 80% of South Koreans joining OM had the same idea.  Around that time, Minkyu, a missionary had just come back from OM Ireland. Bitna listened to his presentation and was very interested in the ministries OM Ireland was involved in, so she decided that’s where she wanted to go.

Bitna spent her first year on the Immersion team. During her first six weeks of training, she really fell in love with Ireland. One of her favourite things to do was go on the cross walks - carrying the cross through Ireland and talking to people.

Bitna was placed in a local church in Mohill, Co Leitrim with two of her team members. “The first two weeks, we didn’t have anything to do,” said Bitna. “So I used that time to really pray. I heard God say, ‘There’s nothing you can do. Only I can do.’” After that, many opportunities opened and Bitna became involved in Sunday school, youth group, kid’s club and an opportunity to share at a school.

“The principle of the local school approached us and asked us if we wanted to teach a Religious Education class. That was a great opportunity for us to share the Gospel to kids.”

Since the Immersion team programme lasts one year, Bitna had to decide how she would be involved in OM Ireland for her remaining year. “After the Immersion programme, I prayed and fasted about what to do. God told me that he had given me the gift of working with children, and He showed me that through my time with the Immersion Team. I hadn’t worked with young kids before, but during my ministry in Mohill, I was really interested to see how they changed and reacted to something that I was doing or saying. And it made me feel really good when they understood the Bible and accepted the Gospel.”

“The youth here look like they have no hope,” observed Bitna. “And no one can help them. Only Jesus can help them.  My desire is to present kids with the Gospel before they grow up so they can have that planted in their head.”
