Reaching youth through sport

Zambia

OM International
Africa is a young continent, with 17 as the average age. OM Zambia has realised that to transform Africa, young people must be at the heart of the ministry.

One way to reach young people is through sport. Ubabalo eAfrica (Grace for Africa) provides whole-life coaching to young people and teaches them how to disciple a team and incorporate biblical values into coaching. This programme links sports skills with life skills. Their vision is to train leaders who can go to their communities and disciple people through sport.

Recently, 18 students graduated from the training in Kabwe. During the programme, the students reached out in Nakoli, a slum area where about 6,000 people live. The trainees were paired and each pair was given a football. The community was not notified beforehand, but even so it took less than 10 minutes before the pairs were surrounded by 200 teens and children wanting to participate. Some of these young people gave their lives to the Lord.

Please pray that God will continue raising up people to minister through sport in Zambia. Pray that more will come to know God’s love through this ministry.
